Stinger Manual
Stinger is a voice assistant for managing your honeybee colonies: you talk, it keeps the records. Gloves on, veil down, phone in your pocket — say what you see and it becomes an inspection log, a reminder, a stock count.
Start here
- Install and sign in. Open the app, read and accept the data terms, then Continue with Google. First time in, choose Register as Owner — that creates your operation (your "org"). Joining someone else's crew instead? Use their invite code.
- Grant permissions. Allow the microphone (it is how you talk to Stinger) and location (it is how Stinger knows which apiary you are standing in) on first use. Camera access is also requested the first time you try to take a photo.
- Talk to it. Tap the bee on the console (the app's home screen) to start listening. Speak naturally — full sentences are fine. Your words and Stinger's replies appear in the transcript — the running conversation on screen, like text messages.
The one habit that matters: say colony and apiary names exactly as you
named them. Stinger matches names precisely on purpose — "Bench 3" is not "bench three-ish" — so records
never land on the wrong colony. The names you'll see in examples — Workshop, Bench 1, Bench 3 —
are ours; substitute your own.
